Because of my hearing problems I have had one of these phones which not only allows me to amplify the speech of a caller but also gives visual information of the number they are calling from. This phone also alerts you to potential unwanted calls when it displays the words ‘out of area’. This indicates a call from someone outside the UK, possibly a foreign call centre. We have used this information to end such calls quickly. When our other phone showed signs of breaking down yesterday we jumped to the obvious choice of another Geemarc Cl 1400.[[ASIN:B002LAR8IY Clearsound Cl1400 Amplified Telephone with Caller ID – White]

Perfect if you are hard of hearing, the ring is very loud as is the loudspeaker. I attended an ENT hospital in London and the specialist had one in her room and she left me in there whilst she went next door and rang me to see how I got on with it. It was so good I went home and ordered one and now we have moved I ordered a second one for another room. We have call waiting and a red light flashes to let you know there is a message when you have been out. I no longer have to keep passing the phone to my husband to ask him what is being said so I have no hesitation in recommending this phone as I can make and receive phone calls now entirely by myself.

I’m not hard of hearing but used to miss calls if out of the room, and now I don’t. I think this phone would be really useful in a large house as you would hear it ringing wherever you were. I like the large, clear visual display of the date, time, and caller’s number too, there is nothing wrong with my eyes, but it’s nice it’s so easy to read. The green ‘loudspeaker’ button is very useful as it means the phone is hands free; If you are busy you can multitask and use your computer or iPhone at the same time! Downsides are the flashing light and the instructions which are not as clear as they could be, but even so, I would recommend this phone to anyone.
