The ESD-01A provides an inexpensive and simple means of providing a remote controlled emergency telephone auto dialler for the elderly or disabled people. By pressing the red panic button, the dialler will call stored emergency contact numbers to warn relatives or carers that assistance is required. The transmitter range is 30 Metres and works through walls. Not waterproof.

PROS
# dials 5 Nos on panic button press (ensure everyone has an action plan in place for the 1st person on the scene)
# relatively simple to set up with full instructions
# main unit requires a 9v battery backup (pendant = 12v car alarm style that should last at least a year depending what unit is being used for and how many times used)
# main unit wall mountable or free standing (probably best mounted if using PIR function)
# reasonable long leads on power pack & telephone cable
# gives peace of mind which is what you want in the event of an emergency
# I dare say the PIR function would be great to monitor anyone leaving a room at night for sleepwalkers etc
CONS
# the end user can inadveratntly press the pendant panic button causing some undue concerns.(so some experimentation to the length & positioning of pendant or slight modification by sticking a ring around the edge of the buttom to inset it slightly more
# when the unit dials the 5 Tel Nos it just plays an alarm siren sound so as long as you only have one person with this type of unit then no problems as you immediately know who was calling in an emergency. It would of been even better if you could record your own outgoing message
# pendant not water proof but this is mentioned in the manual etc.
# I would like to see a volume control on the internal sounder so that if the panic button is pressed inadvertantly then this can be controlled by not waking the neighbours & the user is aware they have pressed it.
